Kia's next-generation Picanto, to be launched by the South Korean car maker at the Geneva show in March, will increase its appeal with a wider range of body styles and four new engines.

The current Picanto is only available as a five-door hatchback but Kia plans to build five-door and three-door variants of the new car.

There are four all-new engines in 1.0 and 1.2-litre displacements, all said to boast class-leading CO2 emissions. In addition to the standard petrol engines there will be LPG, bi-fuel and flex-fuel versions, though not all are expected to come to the UK.

The new model has been styled by Kia's European design team in Frankfurt, under the direction of chief designer Peter Schreyer.
