A camless valvetrain has no camshaft to operate the valves. Instead, an electro-hydraulic system operates each valve. This can reduce parasitic loss and increase efficiency.
An engine which has a conventional camshaft to operate one set of valves, but a camless system for another set of valves, is known as 'half camless'.
